According to a press release on Jay Barth’s website:
LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas Chapter of the Sierra Club announced today that it has endorsed Jay Barth for Arkansas Senate, Dist. 34.
“The Arkansas Sierra Club backs Jay Barth because of his clear commitment to our state’s water, woods, and wildlife,” said Sierra Club Chapter Chair Rob Leflar. “Jay really gets it.”
“Throughout this campaign, I’ve emphasized that the natural beauty of Arkansas is a blessing to the people of Arkansas, and that we have a responsibility to protect it,” said Barth. “I’m honored that the Sierra Club is confident that I will be a leader on the environment in the State Senate.”
Barth looks forward to partnering with Rep. Kathy Webb, the co-chair of the Arkansas Commission on Global Warming, to promote policies that will address the crucial issue of climate change.
In addition, Barth has emphasized the need to protect central Arkansas’s water supply, because of its tremendous value to our communities. He has committed to being an active advocate with local decision makers to encourage wise decisions regarding Lake Maumelle. Barth knows that maintaining clean water is vital, both for the health of our citizens as well to keep water prices low for residential and commercial users.
